Welcome to this edition of The Palm Beach Weekender, a weekly roundup of local weekend events, plus some other cool things happening in our area.

The weekend is almost here, and it looks like the weather will be perfect! I hope you have a great weekend and attend one of the many events happening around the county.

🌊 Rapids Water Park Job Fair: Rapids Water Park is getting ready to open for the 2025 season and plans to hire 400 employees. They encourage anyone 16 and older to fill a variety of positions. They provide in-park training and lifeguard certification. A great summer job for those still in school.

🌱 Native Plant Giveaway: There will be a native plant give away today (Thurs. 30) from 6pm to 8pm, at the Mounts Botanical Auditorium in West Palm Beach. It will be first come, first served and is open to Palm Beach County Residents (must show proof of residency).

🍿 The Movies at Wellington Closes: Movies at Wellington has officially closed its doors. The theater announced on Facebook last week that they could no longer stay open due to the rising costs.

🛩️ Boca Raton Airport Unveils New Observation Area: Earlier this week the Boca Raton Airport opened its new observation area to the public. It features shaded comfortable seating, educational signs to inform guests about the history of the airport and has a live air traffic control tower radio feed.

🌳City Of Delray Beach Free Tree Giveaway: Community Greening and the City of Delray Beach will be giving away free native trees and fruit trees to Delray residents only. You can receive up to 3 trees. Trees include: June plum, soursop, dahoon holly and inkwood. First come, first served.

🍦 Crispy Cones Opens First South Florida Location: There is a new ice cream shop in town! Crispy Cones has opened its second Florida location in Palm Beach Gardens. They specialize in delicious soft-serve ice cream, served in a cinnamon-covered dough cone that’s grilled rotisserie-style. Crispy Cones even made an appearance on Shark Tank and even struck a deal with Barbara. 

🍽️ Waterway Cafe Reopens: This local favorite closed its doors back in August 2023, initially planning to reopen within 6 to 9 months—but things didn’t go as planned. Now, 18 months later, Waterway Cafe is finally back after undergoing a major, million-dollar remodel.

🍩 Duck Donuts Opens in Royal Palm: With over 100 locations nationwide, Duck Donuts has brought its delicious, made-to-order donuts to Palm Beach County.

🥩 Novecento Debuts in Delray: This Argentine steakhouse with Italian influences has opened in Delray Beach’s historic Falcon House. It’s their first Palm Beach County location, adding to their four spots in Miami-Dade. If you love steak, it’s definitely worth a try!

South Florida Fair - West Palm Beach

The South Florida Fair is back in town! You have 17 days to experience everything the fair has to offer. Things like the pig races, carnival games, Yesteryear Village, parades, concerts, turkey legs, dozens of rides, live performances, delicious lemonade, petting zoo, and plenty of fair food to enjoy! 

This year's theme is Imagine The Future. There will be 15 interactive exhibits that you will be able to explore. All showcasing the fascinating ideas and concepts of science fiction that could soon become the reality of tomorrow.

South Florida Garlic Fest - Wellington

Date: February 1 - 2, 2025

Hours: Saturday: 11am-9pm | Friday: 11am-6pm

Cost: Adults - $15, Kids ten & under - Free

Location: Wellington Amphitheater, 12100 Forest Hill Blvd, Wellington 

The South Florida Garlic Fest is back in town! After 26 years, it still is one of South Florida’s best annual events. Even being featured on the Food Network’s Carnival Eats and has even been mentioned on Jeopardy. 

It will be a weekend full of garlicky foods, great live music, cooking demonstrations, and more than 150 vendors to explore. The main attraction is Gourmet Alley, which has all the unique garlic inspired dishes you can think of. Items like garlic candied bacon, garlic burgers, garlic ice cream, pickled garlic martinis, and many more. Don’t worry–there will also be a few non garlic food items to choose from. 

Winter Equestrian Festival - Wellington

Date: January 8 to March 30, 2025

Hours: Vary.

Cost: Free (Saturday Night Lights - $22 parking per car)

Location: Wellington International, 3400 Equestrian Club Dr, Wellington

The Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) is an annual equestrian festival that runs for 13 weeks between January and March in Wellington, FL. It is the longest running and largest equestrian event in the world, attracting people from all around the world. You are welcome to attend for free Wednesday to Sunday for exciting competitions, food, and much more! See the schedule in the link below.

Shakespeare By The Palms - Royal Palm Beach

Location: Commons Park Amphitheater, 11600 Poinciana Blvd, Royal Palm Beach

Experience a Shakespearean classic under the stars. Grab a blanket or lawn chair and head to Commons for a free performance of As You Like It. It’s a fun, romantic comedy full of disguise, drama, and laughs. Perfect for a chill night with family and friends or a cute date night!

Food Trucks & Lakeside Market - Wellington

The Wellington Food Truck & Music series and the Lakeside Market, welcomes you to enjoy a night full of delicious food, live music, and shopping. Each week, you can enjoy over 40 market vendors, live tribute bands, and more than a dozen food trucks. This week’s live music by: Rough Shot (country rock)

This week the Village of Wellington wants you to join them for a Chinese New Year Celebration. There will be martial arts demonstrations, paper lantern decorating, a traditional Lion Dance performance, and more. 

Clematis By Night: On the Roxx - West Palm Beach

If you want to get your weekend started a little early, head over to Clematis by Night and enjoy a laid-back, seaside happy hour vibe under the stars. Experience a live performance by On the Roxx and don’t forget to check out all the tasty bites from local vendors.

Art After Dark - West Palm Beach

Location: Norton Museum of Art, 1450 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach

Every Friday night, the Norton Museum hosts Art After Dark. It is an opportunity to attend art workshops, film screenings, live performances, and art tours. Touch-A-Truck - Jupiter

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum invites you to their Family Adventure Day. An event that will be bringing The Adventures of Charlie Pierce series to life through storytelling, immersive activities, and community performances. A great way to learn about the rich history of South Florida.

Manateefest - West Palm Beach

Manatee Lagoon is hosting their ninth annual ManateeFest this Saturday. A free family event that is all about Manatees and environmental conservation. It will feature a kids fun zone, face painting, live music, food vendors, mascot photos, and more. It will be a warmer weekend but always check out the viewing platform for a chance to see these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

Art Walk/Fashion Show at The Peach - West Palm Beach

Saturday Night Lights - Wellington

Cost: Free ($22 parking fee per car but there is free off-site parking)

Location: Wellington International, 3400 Equestrian Club Dr, Wellington

This is the Winter Equestrian Festival’s most popular event. It is a weekly grand prix show-jumping competition that also features delicious food, live music, games, and many activities for the little ones. Just a reminder that Wellington International is a cashless venue.

Free off-site parking is located at Equestrian Village (13500 S Shore Blvd, Wellington, FL) and the complimentary shuttles will take you to Wellington International. 

Orchid Weekend - Delray

Date: February 1 to February 2, 2025

Hours: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Cost: Free with paid museum admission 

Location: Morikami, 400 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach
