A small local artisan bakery known for its naturally leavened sourdough breads made using simple locally sourced ingredients.

🧑🍳 How it all started
Johnny VanCora started baking bread at just 14 years old in his parents’ kitchen, selling his loaves to neighbors and at local green markets. He would even bring a few loaves to school and sell them to customers in the high school parking lot. Johnny later opened his first shop in Jupiter, and from that point there was no slowing down. He now has a second store in West Palm.
🥖 What makes the bread so special
Nearly every loaf is made by hand using locally sourced ingredients and naturally leavened with his own sourdough starter and freshly milled organic flour. This is what gives his bread a deeper flavor with that perfect chewy interior and crispy crust. His sourdough is true sourdough, which makes it more nutritious than regular bread and ideal for those sensitive to gluten. If you want to learn more about sourdough, check out this article.
🛒 Where to buy
You can buy Bread by Johnny at his two dedicated bakery locations in Jupiter and West Palm, as well as at two local green markets (WPB GreenMarket & Gardens GreenMarket). You might’ve also had some of his bread while dining at local restaurants, as he’s partnered with many over the years, including Buccan, La Goulue, and The Breakers.
🥯 What to expect
They bake a variety of different breads, including focaccia, Brooklyn rye, filone, bagels, banh mi rolls (my favorite), and more. They also offer specialty breads throughout the week, ranging from chocolate brioche rolls to sourdough pretzels. Check out their full list of breads here.

One of the most underrated state parks in South Florida.

🔆 Cape Florida lighthouse
The park’s most recognized landmark is the Cape Florida Lighthouse, originally built in 1825, making it one of the oldest lighthouses in the state. It has gone through many hurricanes, Seminole attacks, explosions, and decades of history. You can tour the lighthouse for free (included with park entry), Thursday through Monday from 10AM to 12PM.
🏖️ One of the best beaches in Florida
The beaches in Key Biscayne are beautiful and have been ranked among the best in the country. Here at Bill Baggs, you’ll find soft white sand paired with clear turquoise water, with almost no waves due to the fact that most of the shoreline is super shallow.
🛶 Saltwater Railroad
Few people know that this park was once part of the Saltwater Railroad, a route many enslaved people escaping from Southern slave states took while seeking freedom in the 1800s. They would make their way down to Cape Florida, and from here many boarded sloops or sailed in Indian dugout canoes to the Bahamas in search of freedom.
🌆 Best sunsets on this side of Florida
One of the most underrated things about the park is the sunsets. If you go to the very southern tip of the island, you can watch the sun drop behind the Biscayne Bay with the Miami skyline faintly visible in the distance. Easily the place to watch the sunset in Southeast Florida (not counting the Keys).
